Another great, busy day at the RMLI! The Garden Railroad Society was on hand for a Bar-B-Que and a day’s work on the Freeman Garden Railroad, beautiful! Sharon Freeman was working on the railroad today too! Great to see her and the LIGRS gang at RMLI.
Steve Wolbert came by as promised and H.K. Porter No. 1 easily moved from her shed for inspection and continuing work toward a “fireup!” Outside in the sunlight Steve was able to do a good trailer inspection. It looks like we need five new tires, three are OK. The brakes are not working and for around $250.00 we can get the new, MODERN parts needed to make them whole. I’ll be checking the NY State and Suffolk County contracts for the cost of five new tires and professional on-site installation. She looks good . . . . . . .

Finish painting will resume next week on the wood cab and the boys will start sanding, prepping and priming the trailer. In May, member Rich Carter will come to the RMLI to help and educate up to replace valve packing on the quarter turn and globe valves.
Sheet steel for the repair/rebuild of the G-16 passenger car’s floor will be delivered on Monday, thanks to RMLI member Connor Sullivan’s Dad, John!! Lenny Joerg has a willing co-worker coming soon to weld the new floor plates into the car. Steve and Greg have the materials necessary to re-plumb the failed air brake lines on the car. We look forward to having her run for RR Festival!
We also received another 57 railroad lanterns for our growing collection!
