Winter in Riverhead

As Long Island continues on with one of the worst winters in decades, the Riverhead Restoration Site remains open during this terrible time, to allow our large staff of volunteers to continue their work! Much time has been spent by all of our volunteers behind the wheel of our trusty snow plow, while others have shovels in hand! Progress on the Historic Lionel Visitors Center Layout continues along with yearly museum maintenance to prepare us for the 2011 season! Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for their hard work keeping the museum open and cleared of snow in this hard time. We also look forward to seeing the many visitors that will c0me to the museum in the spring to experience railroading on Long island.

The Long Island Rail Road continues to keep the mainline clear as well with daily week day only service to Greenport. A new piece of equipment has also been stored in the yard recently, a MOW Weed Cutter. A lot goes on year round at RMLI and the LIRR!
