Steam Locomotive 39 Restoration Project approaches $10,000.00 in donations!

July 29, 2013
Riverhead, NY
Since announcing the Railroad Museum of Long Island and Strasburg Railroad Company partnership to restore and operate Long Island Railroad Steam G5s Locomotive  #39 on March 15, 2013, a steady stream of donations toward the project have been received by the Museum.  Today we are within sight of our first $10,000.00 in donations – 9,796 dollars are in the bank at Bethpage Federal Credit Union!!
All donations will remain in an interest bearing account at Bethpage Federal Credit Union until we reach our restoration goal of $900,000.00.  At that time a check will be written to Strasburg Railroad Company and work will begin again on Locomotive #39.  We are budgeting another $100,000.00 for cranes, trucks and trailers, permits and the like to transport the tender, frame and running gear to Strasburg from Riverhead.  Our fundraising goal for 2013 is $1,000,000.00.
We are happy to recognize our donors alphabetically and thank each and every one of them for their support of the #39 Restoration Project.
