After many years of service surrounding the RMLI Riverhead Museum the old fence was removed this week and replaced with a brand new vinyl fence on the west side of the Visitors Center. In the future we hope to obtain another grant that will enable us to replace the South side next to the Long Island Rail Road mainline. The new fence on the west side makes the museum look 100% better from the street. One of the gates has also been relocated so it is in line with the tracks in the yard across the street for our future exhibit hall and turntable. Much work has been done recently as well around the museum to improve it’s cosmetic condition that includes the new fence, new windows and wooden shingles in the second story floor of our Visitor Center with new paint being applied to the first floor. In the Southwest front corner of the property we have also added a small garden that will spot an RMLI sign sometime next year.
