20th Annual Riverhead Railroad Festival

$12.00Introducing our Railroading History to Long Island’s Families from Brooklyn to Greenport and Montauk! “Bringing Steam Back to Long Island!” Join with the Railroad Museum of Long Island as it inaugurates steam operations of the H. K. Porter 0-4-0 steam locomotive, the “Roy Dunwell” No. 1 on Saturday and Sunday, August 24 and 25, 2019. Its firebox dark since 1999, this Southampton, NY steam locomotive has been restored by the Strasburg Rail Road Company for the Museum and registered and permitted by the State of New York to operate. See the locomotive run in place on its specially made tractor trailer, view blacksmithing demonstrations, see a historic steam engine, (driven by No. 1’s boiler), operating a steam hammer in the blacksmith shop!

Festival gates open at 10:00 AM and close at 4:00 PM each day. Admission: $12.00 Adults; $6.00 Children 5 to 12 years old; Children 4 years old and younger FREE!
Ride the LIRR “Scoot” at 10:25 AM and visit our Museum in Greenport, return to Riverhead by 12:50 PM. “Scoot” tickets are purchased separately onboard the train from the LIRR Conductor. Admission to the Riverhead Railroad Festival allows you to see both sites on the same day of purchase.
