It’s almost Christmas time and the museum has decorated our tree in Riverhead this weekend! Out in the corner of the Riverhead yard our tree shines bright at night for all to see. This year we also have light poles that got to be wrapped in garland and lights outside of the Lionel Visitor’s Center. Across the street we are installing the old gates to the visitor’s center in front of Engine 399 for easier access to the back shops. Riverhead fence is also extended the fenced area a little “squaring it off” Work should be completed early this week. Engine 399 also continues to get metal and body work. Her under carriage is now spotting a nice brown primer that will soon become black. The rest of her will be solid orange, which is the paint job she has when delivered in 1958. Tune in on Monday for a full blog update on the progress of 399.
